Orland Laser Carbine

Versatile Laser longarm

Category:
weapon (ranged)
Description:

The Orland Laser Carbine was designed to be a lightweight laser weapon for combat engineers. It has the long reach of most laser weapons with a medium-powered beam. Like most military laser weapons it has a high rate of fire, but is more compact than full-sized military laser rifles. Designed for engineering purposes as well as combat, it features an efficient utility mode for welding and cutting at point-blank range, as well as a dazzler/spotlight mode for illumination.

Due to its compactness, the Carbine only sockets a pair of ‘C’ cells as its power source giving it limited shots. For engineering work, one ‘C’ cell is often replaced with a ‘D’ cell adapter with a cable going to a belt-mounted power pack. This arrangement greatly increases the endurance of the weapon at the cost of the addition of a slightly awkward cable assembly. While this gives the laser long-duration welding, the Carbine may be prone to overheating if used in weapon mode for long periods with the extended power pack.
